Alicante – Exports of footwear in the first quarter of this year have grown by 10.2% in volume and 18.4% in value, compared to the same period last year, to reach 46.6 million pairs valued at 869 million euros, according to the data provided by the Federation of Spanish Footwear Manufacturers (FICE) on Wednesday.
These figures have been known three days before the start in Italy of the first relevant fair of the year in the international calendar of the sector, the Expo Riva Shuch, which between Saturday and Tuesday of next week, will take place in the town of Riva of the Garda.
The footwear sector will present the new footwear collections for the spring-summer season of 2016, serving as an appointment for footwear companies to adjust their production plans and even show the reruns of the last autumn-winter campaign.
Up to Italy 14 footwear companies from Elche and two from Elda will be displaced, taking advantage of the same occasion to carry out replacements of the autumn-winter campaign this winter.
The Riva del Garda fair will start on Saturday and close its doors on Tuesday of next week. With 42 years of activity and 84 editions, the Italian event is currently the main international fair for mid-range volume footwear. The Riva Schuh Expo will bring together some 1,300 companies, 70% of which are foreign. The last edition of January had 10,800 visitors, of which 60% were foreigners, from more than 100 countries.
The profile of the visitor to the Italian event ranges from the organized distribution of department stores, hypermarkets, buying groups, catalog sales or chain stores to small retail chains and independent retailers.
